We are currently in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala being hosted by the Syrian Orthodox Church in a very fancy hotel. We have been honored many times during ceremonies and events in the past couple days, and have been served an array countless times throughout the trip thus far. It has been a humbling experience, however at times I have felt that I need to serve more. The people here are very prideful that we are their guests, so they feel the need to drive us in fancy cars and lead us into buildings in a parade fashion. I do what I can to answer questions about life in America, however I am more interested about their lives here in India. It is very rare to encounter an experience like this. Two people so curious about the other’s place of coming. I have already learned so much, yet my drive to learn even more is still strong. Oh boy am I thankful for this trip. It has been so rewarding intellectually, culturally, and spiritually.
Also, I have been signing many autographs and people want to take selfies with me. Whenever they ask for an autograph I usually sign as “Abe” and if they ask for a selfie I give them a hug and walk away. Not about the fame life. At least not yet…
I am way too tired to write in more detail. Goodnight. Tomorrow we are going to an Indian wedding because why not.
paz.
